What Data We Collect

• Email address — provided before purchasing your Scent Profile
• First name — provided before purchasing your Scent Profile
• Quiz answers — your responses to our fragrance profile questions
• Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store card details
• Usage data — basic session data stored locally on your device only

How We Use Your Data

• To generate and deliver your personalised Scent Profile PDF
• To process your payment via Stripe
• To send you your purchased profile by email
• To improve our recommendation service
• To comply with legal obligations

We will never use your data for unsolicited marketing without your explicit consent.

• Contract performance — to deliver the service you paid for
• Legitimate interests — to improve our service and prevent fraud

Third Parties We Share Data With

• Stripe — payment processing. PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. Stripe Privacy Policy →
• Anthropic — AI processing of quiz answers. Data processed but not stored. Anthropic Privacy Policy →
• Fragella — fragrance database queries. Only scent accord data shared, not personal information.
• Cloudflare — secure API routing. No personal data stored.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data with any third party.

Cookies & Local Storage

SpeakScents uses browser localStorage to remember your profile unlock status and free read count. This data is stored only on your device and never transmitted to our servers. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

Data Retention

• Email and name — retained until you request deletion or up to 2 years
• Payment records — 7 years as required by UK tax law (held by Stripe)
• Quiz answers — not permanently stored after profile generation

Your Rights Under UK GDPR

• Access — request a copy of data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your data
• Restriction — request we limit how we use your data
• Portability — request your data in a portable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests

Data Security

• HTTPS encryption on all pages
• API keys stored securely in Cloudflare — never in our code
• Payments handled entirely by Stripe
• No central database storing customer personal data

SpeakScents is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
